Smiley Riley...

Meet Smiley Riley, a friend of ours...

p.s. change of topic, i've been watching 'Criminal Justice' this week. Great stuff.
The best bit of TV since a gunman ran into the Big Brother house and shot everyone dead including the people who put that fucking shite in our homes! Sorry, that was last nights dream!!

a Lewis Winter....

we met yesterday to talk through the plan for the Weather Journals album release. We'll hopefully know in the next few weeks, we're excited by it all. We have started a myspace page for it here: www.myspace.com/theweatherjournals......

'Submarine'
As we lay on opposite walls of the old stone ruin we watched the moor rush beneath the cover of night. The aging grass had climbed over half way up the wall and reaching down I pulled the top of a bulrush, putting it between my teeth like a toothpick.
It was June when we first found the ruin but in the sheer darkness that surrounded us it was hard to believe in the brightness of that memory. The open sky looked like our closed eyes, as though the island had been dipped in an inkwell and stitched into the thick cloud with a black thread.
‘A Lewis winter’s like being on a submarine, isn’t it’ She said. ‘As you disappear beneath the surface an overwhelming darkness begins to bear down on you, growing more intense the deeper you go. And then, when you’re completely submerged it seems impossible that the sun can be shining somewhere else at the same time. It’s complete claustrophobia.’
‘I don’t see it like that,’ I said, holding the bulrush a few inches from my face. ‘I think it’s more like putting on a different pair of glasses. Once your eyes have adjusted you’re able to see things you would otherwise have missed. In a way, I suppose it is like being on a submarine,’ I said, leading her down from the wall and into the night, ‘when you’ve learnt to find your way in total darkness you will never get lost.’

English Dates...

Thanks to everyone who came to see us play over the last few dates in England, we had much fun and met some great folks! We played at the opening of a new venue in Huddersfield called The Peacock Lounge, a great wee old style venue. It was like stepping into somewhere in Chicago in the 1920s. If you are around that area any Wednesday night they will be showing old movies, so dress up like a gangster and get yourself down there. We also sampled some nice local beers in a few nice local pubs while we were there, even ended up in a bar like the one from the film 'Police Academy' - the blue oyster bar! Thankfully Tony had taken off the dress by that point! We may of never seen him again!

p.s.
(The May Star)
Gonna lie under the street lights now
Will you watch with me
Playing the game where the winner dies
It might just be me
First to move he's to shout
Things he couldn't say
First to see the May Star now
Forever gets to stay

the sound of falling leaves...

we wondered out in the rainfall, it's a magic world...soaked to the skin we watched the light fall...can you tell me does your heart swoon to the sound of nothing at all?
have you died inside and let the kings rule!
